Paddle Lapland ! Lapland has it all. Stunning landscape, endless lakes and white water of all levels. Cap it all off with wildlife and 24 hours of sunlight. If you are new to kayaking and just want to give it a try, or a seasoned paddler looking for something new, I have something for you.
Courses for 2024
I`m committed to establishing solid paddling foundations for new paddlers. With over 35 years of teaching, I know that efficient & safe methods are the key to enjoying a lifetime of kayaking, be that on flat water or raging rapids around the globe. My courses are aimed at begginers & established paddlers alike. Come and give it a try or come and expand existing skills. Courses run form May - September.
Canoe/Kayak
I`m Blessed with living on the bank of the Umealven River tucked up against the mountains of Central Lapland, Sweden. We can launch right from the door, we have safe, sandy bottomed bays to practise in and endless kilometers of shore to explore .Basic courses are aimed at explaining the differences in types of kayaks, allowing newbies to try various boats and also to teach you a series of safe and solid paddle techniques that you can grow with. I want to you arrive enthusiastic to paddle and leave with safe skills you can develop for years to come.

I started paddling before I could ride a bike and been fortunate to enjoy the best that this wonderful sport has to offer. I`ve kayaked the coast of Alaska and inland, racked up first decents of some of the wildest & coldest rapids on Earth, been a raft guide in Colorado & California and bounced my way down some of the gnarliest water in the Alps ! If its a raging river or a placid sea, as long as its in a kayak, its all good !

Whatever your interest in paddle sports, Lapland Kayak School can help get you on the water. I operate a safe & structured program of teaching based on international standards. I can get you started in flat water paddling in a variety of kayaks ranging form modern sea kayaks, Greenland style kayaks as well as various types & styles of white water boats. I take you right form the very basics of how to get in/out of your kayak, how to paddle in a straight line, turn and even roll your kayak, explain and demonstrate various paddles types and their use , explain the pros & cons of various equipment like dry suits V wet suits and a host of other information to help you make the right choices. All courses include all necessary safety & comfort equipment.
I also have a range of equipment for rental for suitably experienced paddlers that includes kayaks/canoes/rafts-wet/drysuits-PFD`s & paddles-tents, watertight barrels and other essential equipment for a Lapland paddle adventure.
